You would not send a child out on a bike without a helmet.

You hope they never fall. But if they do, you want them protected. ISO is that helmet for your business. It protects you when something goes wrong, and it shows buyers you take quality seriously.

A helmet only works if it fits. Too small and it will not protect you. Too big and it slips, gets in the way, and nobody wants to wear it.

ISO is exactly the same. So everything we do starts with getting the fit right for your business.

Two words that guide everything we do

Proportionate

Your system is the right size for your business.

Every document earns its place. The effort, the paperwork and the cost all match your size, your risks and the way you actually work.

What that looks like

  • Documents only where the standard or your business needs them
  • Fees that reflect the size of your business
  • A system your team can pick up and use
  • A system that grows when you do
Discerning

Knowing what matters, and what does not.

Anyone can produce documents now, and plenty of them are written by AI. The skill is knowing which ones you need, what your auditor will really look for, and whether what is written down is true in practice.

What that looks like

  • We look at what you have before we change anything
  • We tell you honestly what the auditor will care about
  • We check your system works on the shop floor as well as on paper
  • We do the thinking ourselves. No AI writes your system

We fit ISO to your business, and keep adjusting it as your business grows.

How we work with you

  1. 1

We get to know your business

We visit, listen and look at how you really work before we suggest anything.

  2. 2

We build only what you need

New system or existing one, we add or change only what earns its place.

  3. 3

We check it works in practice

Internal audits test the system against real life. We write our reports on site, so nothing is left waiting.

  4. 4

We keep it fitting as you grow

As your business changes, we adjust the system with you.

Two ways to work with us

Both are proportionate. Both are discerning. The difference is how closely we work alongside you.

Bespoke

Your own ISO consultant, on site.

This is the way established businesses run ISO. We come to you, get to know your people and your processes, and work with you and for you to build and run a system that fits.

Two starting points

  • New to ISO. We build your system, take you through certification, then manage it with you.
  • Already certified. We take on the yearly management, from internal audits to your management review.

By proposal

After a free chat and a visit, we send a proposal written for your business. On site across Kent and the South East.

Remote

Proportionate ISO support, wherever you are.

For businesses of up to 20 employees, in Kent and beyond, that already hold ISO and want it looked after properly. The same judgement and the same approach, delivered remotely.

Included every year

  • Two internal audits
  • A management review meeting
  • A consultant on the end of the phone on your audit day

£350 a month

A fixed fee with no VAT to add. Minimum term of 12 months.

Need a system built first? That is done on site, through Bespoke.

There comes a point when a business has its own consultant on site, someone who knows the people, the processes and the history. You can start remotely and move to bespoke as your business grows, and we make that step easy when you are ready.

The people you will work with

We are a husband-and-wife team. That means two people who know your system, and the same judgement whichever of us comes through the door.

Jeanette, lead consultant at Next Step Compliance

Jeanette

Lead consultant

Jeanette is an IRCA registered lead auditor across ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 and TechIOSH member and every client we have taken to certification has passed. She learned the trade alongside her father, who ran an ISO consultancy in Kent for decades. Before that she spent 13 years as a teacher, so making complicated things feel manageable comes naturally.

Tim, lead consultant at Next Step Compliance

Tim

Consultant

Tim spent his career in precision work. Building and repairing musical instruments, designing bespoke cases for fine art and servicing high-end watches. In a good watch, every part has a purpose and nothing is there for show. He brings that same eye to ISO, working alongside Jeanette on ongoing support and internal audits.

Two of us also means cover. If one of us is unavailable, the other already knows your business.

Your team uses the system because it describes how they really work.

And when the auditor arrives, they see a business that knows what it is doing.

  • Certified first time
  • Less paperwork to look after
  • A system that grows with you
  • Time back for what you do best

★★★★★

Jeanette listened with a sympathetic ear to our concerns and needs, and then worked with us to find satisfactory solutions which both satisfied us and was compliant to the standard. It was refreshing to be listened to rather than dictated to as to how we should run our company.
